Product description
Summerhall Distillery was founded in 2013 by Matthew Gammell and Marcus Pickering as Edinburgh's first gin distillery in 150 years.
In less than a decade, the company has grown significantly and now produces gin, vodka, rum and Scotch whisky. The latter debuted in 2022 in two versions – Broody Hen blended whisky and Broody Hen single malt. The brand name refers to 17th-century Scotland, when highly taxed producers competed with each other in ideas to outsmart excise officials. For example, barrels were smuggled in funeral processions, and bottles ended up in broody hens' nests. Broody Hen single malt comes from an undisclosed Highland distillery and was aged for at least 10 years in American oak barrels.
