Product description
The idea of distilling from locally grown barley was born in Bruichladdich back in 2004 and resulted in cooperation with one farmer.
Over time, 18 more were added, and the debut of Port Charlotte Islay Barley in 2014 began a series of annual editions of this 100% Islay whisky. The Port Charlotte 2014 Vintage presented here was distilled from Concerto and Propino barley varieties sourced from Coull, Dunlossit, Sunderland, Cruach, Craigens, Rockside, Mulindry and Island farms. The whisky is a blend of distillates aged for seven years in first-fill bourbon barrels (84%), second-fill virgin American oak barrels (8%) and second-fill red Bordeaux barrels (8%). It went on sale in late 2022, bottled at 50% abv and unchill-filtered.
