John Walker & Sons 28-year-old Bicentenary Blend / 46%/ 0.7l
- In 2020 the Johnnie Walker brand celebrated its 200th Anniversary with several special releases.
Product description
In 2020, Johnnie Walker celebrated his 200th birthday. John Walker opened his first grocery store in Kilmarnock in 1820 and eventually moved into blending whisky.
On the occasion of the anniversary, Diageo, the owner of the brand, released several commemorative editions, among which the undisputed highlight is the 28-year-old Bicentenary Blend presented here. In his composition, Jim Beveridge, Johnnie Walker's master blender, used whiskies from closed distilleries, such as Cambus, Pittyvaich and Port Ellen. This whisky invites us to visit the Johnnie Walker store and introduces us to the magical world of aromas and flavors from two hundred years ago. (Official tasting note.)
Nose: rich and complex, sweet, fruity notes are in perfect harmony with warm spices and peat smoke; a colonial shop breath full of raisins and dried figs spiced with a hint of candied ginger; finally, our senses are pampered by berries, brown sugar and fragrant oriental spices.
Taste: the first sip brings a tsunami of flavours, a blend of spices, sweet honey and molasses; behind them a wave of sultanas, cocoa beans and herbs wrapped in a gust of peat smoke leads us through the Johnnie Walker shop.
Finish: long, filled with Oriental spices.
