Product description
Port Askaig is a whisky brand (not a distillery) from the Elixir Distillers portfolio of Sukhinder Singh, previously owner of The Whisky Exchange.
It debuted in 2009 and is named after the ferry port on the Islay Island located near the Caol Ila Distillery. We do not know which distillery on the island is behind the Port Askaig brand. Many whisky connoisseurs believe it is Caol Ila, although we have heard unofficially that this brand is associated with more than one distillery. Port Askaig is always bottled without chill filtration and with a natural color. The Port Askaig Small Batch # 01-2023 presented here is a blend of distillates aged in first-fill bourbon barrels (25%) and refilled hogshead barrels (American oak). The whisky was bottled at 59.4% abv.
