Jack Wiebers (Lars-Göran Wiebers) is a German whisky importer and distributor based in Berlin (the official name of the company is Jack Wiebers Whisky World).
Wiebers began his career in 1999 and soon gained a reputation as a great selector and publisher of whiskies. His portfolio includes several series, the most popular of which are "Whisky Castle" (discontinued in 2013), "Old Train Line", "Prenzlow Portfolio Collecton", "Great Ocean Liners" and "Wanted" (the latter reserved for the Bowmore single malt). The Glentauchers presented here is the sixth edition of the new "Saxon Elbe Valley" series. The whisky, distilled in 2009, spent around 13 years in a sherry butt, and the edition consisted of 120 bottles.
Aroma: vanilla, milk chocolate, milk fudge, roasted chestnuts, sultanas, dried dates, apricots, a pinch of white pepper and traces of forest floor.
Palate: milk fudge, sesame seeds, red apples, chocolate-coated raisins, vanilla, nougat, cloves, a bit of licorice and oak tannins.
Finish: medium long, with notes of toffee, vanilla, dried fruit, walnuts, a touch of tobacco and oak.
