Jack Wiebers (Lars-Göran Wiebers) is a German whisky importer and distributor based in Berlin (the official name of the company is Jack Wiebers Whisky World).
Wiebers began his career in 1999 and soon established himself as a formidable selector and publisher of whiskies. Inchfad is a “smoky and peaty” version of the Loch Lomond Group’s Inchmurrin single malt, now discontinued, named after the island in Loch Lomond. Inchfad (Innis Fada in Gaelic, meaning long island) was once home to a small distillery. This whisky, distilled in 2005, spent 17 years in a bourbon cask no. 3071 and was bottled at 49.5% abv in the Gentle Noses series in an edition of 120 bottles.
Nose: pleasantly smoky, tarred ropes, damp linen, freshly baked bread, lemon peel, grilled zucchini, white pepper, lemongrass and oak.
Palate: seaweed salad, lemons, grapefruit, apples, salted peanuts, caramel, vanilla, white pepper, traces of hay and peat smoke in the background.
Finish: medium long, smoky, with notes of vanilla, citrus, white pepper, wet leaves and a drop of tar.
