Product description
Whitley Neill Gin, a creation of Johnny Neill, debuted in 2005 in the Halewood Wine & Spirits portfolio.
Neill is an eighth-generation distiller from the famous Greenall Whitley family, and most of his gins are inspired by the family’s travels and botanical foraging in the most remote corners of the world. Whitley Neill Rhubarb & Ginger Gin is a notable exception to this rule, paying tribute to the family home near Daresbury, where the Whiteleys lived shortly after the end of World War II. The grounds of the manor house included a large garden, which provided inspiration for both culinary and distilling experiments. The gin is formulated with juniper berries, coriander seed, cassia bark, orris root, angelica root, liquorice root, orange and lemon peel, fresh ginger and rhubarb distillate. In 2020, the gin won a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.
Whitley Neill Rhubarb & Ginger gin offers aromas of juniper, citrus and ginger. On the palate, the initial ginger and juniper combination soon gives way to sweet orange, rhubarb and subtle herbal notes. We recommend serving with a delicate premium tonic or ginger beer.
