Darkness 5-year-old Tennessee Rye Whiskey, PX Cask Finish / 49.6% / 0.7l

Darkness is a series of whiskies from the portfolio of Atom Brands, owner of Master of Malt, which, in addition to Scottish single malts, includes single grain whiskies, blended malts and American whiskey.

One of the latest offerings is the rye whisky presented here. We don’t know much about its origins, apart from the fact that it was distilled in Tennessee and finished for over three months in Pedro Ximénez sherry octave barrels. The small capacity of this type of barrel (around 50 liters) speeds up and increases the interaction of the wood with the distillate, which in this case means more intense sherry notes in the aromatic and flavor palette.

Aroma: milk chocolate, caramel, lemon jam, raisins, dried cranberries, black pepper, mint leaf and toasted oak.

Palate: vanilla pudding, milk chocolate, cherries, blackberries, raisins, black pepper, allspice, mint tea and oak.

Finish: medium long, with notes of chocolate, dried fruit, black pepper, cumin, mint and oak.
