Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin + Copa / 40% / 0.7l
Product description
Bombay Sapphire is one of the most popular gins in the world. It is distilled at the distillery of the same name, located in the town of Laverstoke, west of London.
It has been produced since 1987. Bombay is based on one of the earliest recorded recipes for London Gin, recorded by distiller Thomas Dankin. The name Bombay Sapphire refers to the popularity of gin in India during the British Indian era and the 60-carat sapphire known as the "Star of Bombay", discovered in Sri Lanka, which was given to silent film star Mary Pikford. The actress donated the precious stone to the Smithsonian Institute. Bombay Sapphire is produced in a unique way. Ten selected herbs are placed in a distillation apparatus in a special copper and perforated basket. During the distillation of the alcohol, the steam passes through the herbs, gaining a subtle and full aroma. The blend of herbs and botanicals includes: juniper berries, coriander seeds, licorice, almonds, lemon peel, orris root, cubeb pepper, Madagascar aframomum, angelica root and cinnamon bark. The gin is bottled in distinctive blue and square bottles. The label features a bust of Queen Victoria, and an imitation sapphire is placed on the neck of the bottle.
