Product description
In the fall of 2021, Bunnahabhain Distillery announced the debut of its 12-year-old cask strength, as a precursor to its annual releases.
The inspiration for the creator, then Master Distiller Brendan McCarron, came from tastings held in Warehouse No. 9 with guests touring the distillery. Knowing that not every Bunnahabhain lover has the opportunity to visit the distillery, McCarron offered them the chance to experience the charm of the place and the spirit produced there. The whisky is bottled in its purest form, with natural colour, cask strength and without chill filtration. The third edition, released in 2023, was based, like the previous one, on whisky aged in first and second fill sherry casks, this time bottled at 60.1% abv. The Bunnahabhain Distillery (founded in 1881) is equipped with two pairs of stills and has a capacity of 2.7 million litres of distillate per year.
Aroma: hazelnuts, almond flakes, freshly roasted coffee beans, raisins, black cherries, blood oranges, marzipan, toffee, traces of leather and the breath of the ocean.
Palate: roasted nuts and almonds, raisins, sultanas, orange peel, milk chocolate, plums, cherries, toffee, mocha, cinnamon, cloves and a pinch of black pepper.
Finish: quite long, with notes of mixed nuts, raisins, dark chocolate, cloves, sherry and oak.
