Crown Royal has been a signature Canadian whisky since its debut in 1939. Sam Bronfman, its creator and then the owner of Seagram, ran more than 600 tests before he decided on the final formula.

Despite having 11% of global spirit market Seagram decided to sell its Wine & Spirits division in 2001 and invest in the movie industry. The brand is currently owned by Diageo and remains the second (behind Johnnie Walker) best selling whisky brand in the company portfolio with annual sales over 7 million cases. De Luxe remains the most popular Crown Royal expression; it is a blend of up to 50 whiskies produced at the Diageo owned Gimli Distillery in Manitoba. 

Nose: sweet cereals, maple syrup, brown sugar, caramel, baked apples, grapes, vanilla and hints of dark fruit.

Palate: vanilla, caramel, pound cake, apples, breakfast cereals, orange peel hints of cinnamon and oak.

Finish: medium long, with notes of caramel, maple syrup, popcorn, dash of mixed spice and oak.
