Product description
Roku, the first “modern” gin from Japanese giant Suntory, debuted in 2017 to very positive reviews.
Previously, the Japanese company had not recorded any major successes in this category, in 1936 it introduced its Hermes Gin, which it quickly withdrew. The success of Roku encouraged the Japanese conglomerate to further experiments, the fruit of which is the Gin Sui presented here (debut 2022). Its formula includes eight classic botanical ingredients - juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root and seeds, cardamom, cinnamon, lemon peel and bitter orange peel - and three local ingredients - yuzu fruit, green tea and ginger. The latter were supposedly chosen due to their compatibility with Japanese cuisine. The word "Sui" means, among other things, jade and emphasizes the colors of the presentation.
Sui is a gin with a fresh and perfectly balanced aromatic and flavor palette, where ginger, oranges, green tea and spices come to the fore, while juniper plays a secondary role. The producer recommends serving it with soda water, not tonic.
