Product description
Ledaig, meaning ‘peaceful haven’ in Gaelic, is a single malt from the picturesque Tobermory Distillery, the only working distillery on the Isle of Mull.
Since 1993, the "unpeated" whisky has been bottled as Tobermory, while Ledaig, which was re-distilled in 1996, is a spirit made from malt with a phenol concentration of 35-40 ppm. Ledaig 18 years old debuted in 2015 and was a replica of the traditional style of single malt whisky from the Isle of Mull. The whisky is aged in traditional oak barrels and finished in sherry casks, and bottled at 46.3% abv and without prior chill filtration. Although it is included in the company's core range, its supply is limited.
Nose: peat smoke, seaweed salad, delicate sherry notes, raisins, bitter orange jam, roasted nuts, black tea, hints of pepper and tobacco.
Palate: peat smoke, pepper, ginger, raisins, dried plums, salted caramels, toffee, notes of leather and tobacco, oak and a hint of sea breeze.
Finish: long, with notes of peat smoke, cigar ash, dried fruit, licorice, pepper, sea salt and oak.
