Product description
The history of Wenneker Distillers spans over three centuries, beginning in 1693 with Hendrick Steeman obtaining a licence to distill brandy.
Johannes Wenneker bought the distillery in 1812 and his family ran it for the next 90 years. The last of the family, Franciscus Wenneker, had no children and sold the company to Cornelis van der Tuijn in 1903. The distillery remains in the hands of the van der Tuijn family to this day. Wenneker Distillers is renowned for producing high-quality genever; Elderflower Dry gin is a relatively new addition to the range. Its formula lists six botanicals – juniper berries, lime blossoms, oranges, lemons, coriander seeds and elderflowers. The gin is produced in small batches; our bottle comes from batch no. 15, which left the bottling plant in January 2022. In 2017-2018, Wenneker Elderflower gin won silver medals at the International Wines & Spirits Competition.
In the aromatic bouquet, this gin combines notes of juniper and coriander with citrus zesty and fragrant elderberry. More floral accents on the palate, complemented by notes of coriander, pine needles, citrus and a touch of vanilla. We recommend serving it only with ice or with Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic Water with a piece of lime.
