The huge success of the Arran single malt encouraged the owners not only to double the distillery’s production capacity, but also to build a new one. Lagg Distillery began production in March 2019, and the original distillery changed its name to Lochranza.
Single malt Arran debuted in 1998 and established a strong market position over the next decade, while the Isle of Arran became a "mecca" of whisky visited by over 100,000 lovers of this drink every year. The limited edition Small Batch from 2022 presented here (1,098 bottles) is a whisky aged for 5 years in bourbon barrels and another 4 years in rum barrels. The whisky was bottled at 50% abv and without chill filtration for the French importer Le Comptoir Irlandais. Annual sales of single malt Arran exceed 600,000 bottles.
Nose : fruit salad, apples, pears, bananas, pineapples, grapes, coconut, vanilla, caramel, honey, pralines, cinnamon and toasted oak.
Palate : apples, cantaloupe, papaya, pineapple, orange peel, vanilla pudding, brown sugar, cappuccino, cinnamon, cloves and delicate oak notes.
Finish : quite long, with notes of tropical fruits, coconut flakes, vanilla, white chocolate, white pepper and cinnamon.
