The ceremony usually takes place at the beginning of summer, when the arriving monarch receives the keys to the city from the Lord Lieutenant. In accordance with tradition, as a sign of trust, he hands them over to the city council. This ceremony symbolizes honor and freedom and is one of the customs observed with pride by the British monarchs. The whisky referring to it is blended from malt and grain distillates aged for no less than 30 years.
