Bourbon 1792 is a product of Barton 1792 Distillery, owned by the Sazerac Company of New Orleans since 2009.
It debuted in 2003 as 1792 Ridgewood Reserve, a year later the name was changed to 1792 Ridgemount Reserve, and has been on the market under its current name since 2015 (1792 refers to the year Kentucky became the 15th state to join the Union). The company does not disclose the mash formula, we have heard unofficially that it consists of 74% corn, 18% rye and 8% malted barley. The single barrel version joined the offer in February 2016. Since its debut, this bourbon has won many prestigious awards, the latest being the gold medal awarded in 2021 by the judges of the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco.
Nose : caramel, vanilla pudding, milk fudge, maple syrup, rye bread toast, baked apples, white pepper, notes of anise, dill and oak.
Palate : vanilla, caramel, honey, cinnamon buns, cloves, roasted peanuts, apples, bananas, white pepper, ginger and oak.
Finish: long, with notes of caramel, vanilla, toffee, cinnamon, cloves, a hint of anise and toasted oak.
