Glengoyne 30 Year Old, Limited Release 2021 / 46.8% / 0.7l

Glengoyne, based in the southern Highlands, is one of Scotland’s most attractive distilleries, and our opinion is confirmed by the over 80,000 whisky lovers who visit it each year.

This is a small distillery with an extremely interesting and wide range of products, including whiskies aged from 10 to 25 years and an excellent Cask Strength edition. The 30-year-old version returned to the offer in the autumn of 2017 with the announcement of subsequent annual limited editions. The fifth edition from 2021 presented here was made from first and second-fill sherry casks, with a predominance of the latter. The whisky was bottled at 46.8% abv, and only 5,200 bottles were distributed.

Nose: complex, blackberries, black cherries, orange peel, rum-soaked raisins, chocolate truffles, black tea, nutmeg, tobacco and leather notes.

Taste: well balanced, chocolate-covered cherries, plums, caramel, honey, hazelnuts, black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, pipe tobacco and some oak tannins.

Finish: long, with notes of sherry, dark chocolate, raisins, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and a delicate bitterness of oak.
