Product description
Glenturret began life in 1775 as the Hosh Distillery, but records show that whisky had been produced on the property for 60 years before that.
By today's standards, this is an extraordinary distillery, probably the only one where the mash was still stirred with a wooden paddle in the 21st century (it wasn't until 2022 that the mash tun was replaced, raising the production capacity to 500,000 litres of distillate per year). Since spring 2019, the distillery has been owned by the joint venture Glenturret Holding, founded by Lalique Group and Swiss businessman Hansjörg Wyss, one of its main shareholders. Bob Dalgarno, who previously worked for Macallan, has taken over as master distiller and production director. The presentation has also changed; the elegant rectangular bottles are inspired by Lalique's design, while the label features the coat of arms of the Murray family, the founders of the distillery. The Glenturret 30 years old, 2021 edition presented here, is a blend of first-fill (European oak) and refill (American oak) barrels. 750 bottles have been released. (Note by Bob Dalgarno)
TOFFEE and DRIED FRUITS soaked in brandy, traces of CITRUS and OAK SHAVINGS. The oak releases dessert notes of VANILLA, which heralds the arrival of spicy SPICES – a bit of GINGER, CINNAMON and NUTMEG mixed with JUICY, DARK FRUITS. The latter together with TOFFEE and OAK create a harmonious, warming finish.
