Bladnoch The Dragon Series Iteration II, The Spirit / 48.3% / 0.7l

Bladnoch the Dragon Series is a collection of five unique single malt whiskies, dedicated to the captivating unpredictability in the art of whisky making.

The series is inspired by the Dragon Curve, a fractional curve in mathematics that assumes that each iteration of its approach to identification is governed by unpredictability until chaos gives way to natural order (without order, nothing can exist; without chaos, nothing can thrive). The Dragon Series is a tribute to the eternal battle between science and nature, and each iteration highlights the scale of variability in the whisky production process. The second edition of the series, The Spirit (distillate), is dedicated to the first phase of production, in which the distillery is involved. Malted barley is subjected to three processes – mashing, fermentation and distillation. Potential variables include temperature and the moment of separation of the middle fraction from the fore-tails (and tails), which requires a great deal of knowledge and experience from those responsible for each of these stages. The ultimate goal is to maintain a consistent distillate profile. (Producer’s note.)
