Product description
The patron of the bourbon presented here is Basil Hayden, a rye farmer from Maryland who moved to Kentucky in the late 18th century.
There, he developed a high-rye bourbon formula (more than twice what local distillers were using) and began distilling. Since 1987, Basil Hayden's bourbon has been produced by Jim Beam Distillers using a formula similar to the original (around 30% rye). Basil Hayden's 8 Year Old was one of four bourbons that made up the pioneering Jim Beam Small Batch Collection; in 2014, the age statement was replaced with "Artfully Aged." In 2021, Beam changed the brand's presentation and name to Basil Hayden (instead of Hayden's). The 10-year-old version presented here debuted in December 2018 and has been experiencing limited releases.
