Camus, a family owned and operated Cognac House, was founded by Jean Baptiste Camus in 1863. It is located in the Château du Plessis in the smallest growing cru of the region, Borderies, north of the city of Cognac.
The Camus vineyards are part of the 280 hectares estate located in the best area within the Borderies cru. Camus is the fifth largest cognac house and the biggest family owned Cognac Company. Since 2004 Cyril Camus, great-great grandson of Jean Baptiste, is the company president. Camus XO Intensely Aromatic is a Single Estate cognac produced exclusively from the Camus family’s private vineyards. All the wines come from this magnificent estate, the largest in Borderies cru, with vineyards surrounded by forests and naturally preserved areas. They are aged separately for a minimum of ten years. The cognac scored Silver at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
