Product description
The name of the distillery 'Glengoyne' comes from the Gaelic 'Glen Guin' meaning 'Valley of the Wild Geese'.
The whisky produced there since 1833 has long been the main component of several significant blends (Cutty Sark, Famous Grouse and Lang's). The distillery is equipped with three stills and produces just over a million litres of spirit per year. A turning point in Glengoyne's history was its takeover in 2003 by Ian Macleod Distillers, which has built the brand in an exemplary way. The Glengoyne 15 years old presented here is a whisky composed of distillates aged in first-fill bourbon barrels (20%), first-fill sherry barrels (25%) and refill barrels (55%). The blend was finished in Scottish oak barrels made on behalf of the distillery. In 2017, this whisky won the main prize at the Ultimate Spirit Challenge.
