Product description

The Old & Rare Platinum Selection series debuted in 2002 in the Douglas Laing & Co. offering (the first editions were bottled for the Japanese market).

It soon arrived in Europe, where it is still considered the most prestigious offering from independent publishers. In 2013, after 40 years of success, the Laing brothers divided the company's assets and started their own business. The Old & Rare series currently belongs to Hunter Laing & Co., founded and managed by Stewart Laing, and has lost none of its appeal. The Arran presented here, distilled in July 1998, spent almost a quarter of a century in a refilled hogshead, the contents of which in October 2022 translated into 256 bottles of cask strength whisky (55.8% abv).

Aroma : heather honey, toffee, vanilla pudding, marzipan, ripe apples and peaches, cantaloupe, coconut, lemongrass, white pepper, a pinch of salt and toasted oak.

Palate : vanilla, sponge cake, honey-roasted nuts, salted caramel, baked apples, pears, nectarines, pralines, sultanas, cinnamon, lemon pepper and oak.

Finish : quite long, with notes of vanilla, honey, toffee, apples, melons, lemon peel, a pinch of pepper and salt and oak.
