Product description
Kingsbarns Distillery, based in the Lowlands, has been operating since autumn 2014.
It is owned by the Wemyss family, who decided to invest £3 million in their own distillery after the huge success of Wemyss Malts. The distillery is equipped with a single pair of stills and currently produces around 200,000 litres of distillate, using around 30% of its capacity. The distillation is based on locally grown barley. The Kingsbarns single malt debuted in 2018 and received very favourable reviews. The whisky presented here spent over six years in a first-fill bourbon cask no. 1510252, and was bottled at 60.1% abv and without chill filtration in an edition of 245 bottles.
Nose: classic bourbon barrel notes, vanilla cream, milk fudge, golden syrup, banana cake, hints of fennel, potpourri and toasted oak.
Palate : sweet, acacia honey, vanilla cream, buttery croissant, apples, nectarines, pineapples, a bit of coconut flakes, cinnamon and oak tannins.
Finish: medium long, fruity and sweet, with notes of ripe summer fruits, vanilla, milk chocolate, a touch of candied ginger and oak.
