Glendullan 12-year-old (D.2009, B.2022) Connoisseurs Choice / 45%/ 0.7l

The Connoisseurs Choice series is the brainchild of George Urquhart, a second-generation member of the family who owned Gordon & MacPhail and a great whisky visionary.

Since 1968, the series has featured nearly 100 distilleries, presenting nearly 2,000 editions in total. In 2018, the company redesigned Connoisseurs Choice, giving it a more contemporary, elegant look and also included cask strength and wood finishes. The Glendullan presented here, distilled in April 2009, was matured in Côte-Rôtie wine casks for nine years and then aged for another three years in Côte-Rôtie wine casks. The whisky was bottled at 45% abv and without chill filtration as batch 22/028 in February 2022. The edition consisted of 3,245 bottles.

Nose: slightly winey, strawberries, red currants, roasted peanuts, honey, vanilla, violet liqueur, a hint of dried herbs and a fleeting trace of sulfur.

Palate : raspberries, strawberries, cherries, red apples, brown sugar, vanilla, white pepper, licorice, notes of allspice and oak tannins.

Finish: medium long, with notes of red berries, brown sugar, licorice, cinnamon, pepper and oak.
