Fred Laing’s Old Particular series debuted in September 2013, shortly after the division of the assets of Douglas Laing & Co. between the two Laing brothers.
It is the equivalent of the Old Malt Cask range now owned by the newly formed Hunter Laing & Co, of which Stewart is chairman. Old Particular comprises single malt and single grain whiskies bottled in single cask. The Glenburgie 12 year old presented here was distilled in February 2007 and aged in a refill hogshead cask (DL 13706). Bottled at 48.4% abv in November 2019 in an edition limited to 365 bottles. Douglas Laing & Co. whiskies are always offered in their natural colour and without chill filtration.
Nose: honey, vanilla, brown sugar, maple syrup, multi-berry jam, cappuccino, a pinch of white pepper and ginger and toasted oak.
Palate: vanilla pudding, honey, milk fudge, strawberry jam on toast, candied ginger, a hint of lemongrass and a light bitterness of oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of summer vanilla, honey, toffee, red berries, lemon peel, hay and oak.
