Widow Jane Distilling Company is based in Brooklyn, New York.
It was founded in 2012 by Daniel Prieto Preston, owner of Cacao Prieto, a chocolate maker. Daniel grew up in Rosendale, New York, a center of limestone mining. The last mine there closed in 1970, and after the owner’s death, the place was named Widow Jane Mine.
