Mount Gay Elliot Erwitt Edition 14 Year Old Magnum Series # 1 / 60% / 1.5l
- The existence of the Mount Gay plantation apparently can be traced back to 1493.
Product description
The Mount Gay estate in Barbados can reportedly be traced back to 1493.
However, rum production on the plantation began only in 1703. Initially, the estate was called Mount Gilboa, but the name was changed in 1801 by its then owner, Sir Cumberbatch Sober, in honour of the estate manager, Sir John Gay Alleyne, who died that year. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the estate, and with it the rum factory, changed hands several times, finally becoming part of the Rémy Cointreau empire in 1989. This brought with it the inclusion of Mount Gay in the international distribution network, which ultimately translated into an increase in the popularity and sales of the brand's rums.
Mount Gay Elliott Erwitt Edition is a limited edition molasses-based rum, aged for 14 years in oak bourbon barrels. Selected and bottled by independent distributor Velier. Vintage 2007, limited edition to 600 magnum bottles.
