Product description
The company’s history is also linked to the history of rum on St. Lucia itself. Until 1972, there were only two rum distilleries, one in Dennery and the other in Roseau, which then joined forces to create the St. Lucia Distillers brand, producing the now-discontinued Denros Bounty Group rum in honor of the merger. In 1992, the Barnard family of Dennery bought out the Geest family’s shares in Roseau, where the company is currently headquartered, and sold them to Angostura Ltd. of Trinidad, giving the company access to a wider market and capital to pursue its business goals.
In 2005, the Barnard family sold their shares to CLICO, although Laurie Barnard, who is the third generation of the family involved in rum production, holds the position of managing director of the company. To this day, the SLD group has a portfolio of 25 products, including rums and rum products that have won many international awards and thus recognition around the world.
