Product description

The champagne house was founded in 1811, a year after the wedding of Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët. He was a master winemaker and botanist, she was a young woman from a Norman merchant family. They shared a love of nature and art, which is why they wanted to create a champagne house different from the rest. The passion for the fields that united the two also guided their son Charles when he took over the house in 1848. This is expressed in Art Noveau, inspired by the rich, graceful and winding forms of nature - the anemone motif, created for the house in 1902 by Emile Gallé, accompanies the products of this champagne house to this day.

The company has developed over the years, always remaining true to tradition. One of the most important events was the discovery in the house's cellars of four hand-painted magnum bottles with the aforementioned floral motifs. This gave rise to the wonderful line of Belle Epoque Cuvée champagne.

The origins of the Grand Brut line date back to 1846, when Perrier-Jouët introduced the legendary Cuvée K label to the market, as the first champagne in the world with a very small dosage - it was at a level below 5%, when at that time it was regularly at a level of 40%. Thanks to the high quality grapes, which did not require large amounts of sugar, Maison Perrier-Jouët became famous for Brut champagnes. Grand Brut has a beautiful silver-gold color, on the nose it is very expressive, with rich aromas, but also very composed, floral notes are noticeable, combined with fresh fruit. On the palate very lively, with fine, elastic effervescence. Notes of brioche and vanilla appear. The finish is long, with a lasting accent of toast and a bit of citrus.

It tastes best chilled to a temperature of 8-10 degrees. Excellent as an aperitif, but thanks to the wealth of flavors and aromas, it is not afraid of culinary combinations, even with slightly heavier dishes - it will be suitable for seafood, but also fatty fish or chicken breast in a cream sauce will be appropriate in this combination.
