Macduff Distillery is located in the Eastern Highlands, in the town of Banff. Since 1993, it has been owned by John Dewar & Sons, a subsidiary of Bacardi Ltd., and produces approximately 3.3 million liters of distillate per year.
The owners promote their single malt under the Glen Deveron brand (most recently The Deveron), while independent bottlers consistently use the Macduff name. The Macduff shown here was distilled in June 2009 and aged over 12 years in a refill hogshead cask, DL 15575. Bottled by Douglas Laing & Co. in February 2022 in an edition of 369 bottles. All Douglas Laing & Co. whiskies are offered in their natural colour and without chill filtration.
Nose : barley malt, vanilla cream, buttery croissant, peaches, bananas, nectarines and delicate notes of nuts and oak.
Palate: honey cereal, vanilla, brown sugar, baked apples, roasted peanuts, butter cookies and a pinch of white pepper.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, breakfast cereal, stewed fruit, a touch of spice and oak.
