Fred Laing’s Old Particular series debuted in September 2013, shortly after the division of the assets of Douglas Laing & Co. between the two Laing brothers.
It is the equivalent of the Old Malt Cask range, now owned by the newly formed Hunter Laing & Co., of which Stewart is chairman. Old Particular comprises single malt and single grain whiskies bottled in single cask. The Glen Moray 15 years old presented here was distilled in January 2007 and aged in a refill hogshead cask (DL 15887). Bottled in June 2022 at 48.4% abv, natural colour and unchill-filtered in an edition limited to 302 bottles.
Nose : sweet breakfast cereals, sugar biscuits, vanilla, crème brûlée, orange jam, pears, notes of ginger, lemongrass and oak.
Palate : caramel, honey, vanilla, candied lemon and orange peel, green tea, ginger, white pepper, a bit of hay and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of breakfast cereal, caramel, vanilla, citrus, white pepper, ginger and oak.
