Product description
The Dreams series from 1999 is the result of the combined forces of two icons in the world of whisky (and privately friends), Silvano Samaroli and Pepi Mongiardino.
Mongiardino founded Moon Import in 1980 and quickly became known as an importer and distributor of high-end wines and spirits; his “Half Moon” series debuted two years later. At the urging of Silvano Samaroli, Mongiardino focused on bottling single casks of whisky, usually from private owners. In addition to the quality of the spirits themselves, the Moon Import editions are characterized by their unique presentation. The labels were usually designed by Mongiardino himself, inspired by old engravings from an 18th-century German encyclopedia. Samaroli, on the other hand, began his whisky career in 1968 and immediately focused on single cask releases. The early editions, both Samaroli and Moon Import, are at the top of the list of whisky lovers’ interests and rarely come up for auction. Mongiardino admitted in an interview that “Dreams” was his favorite series.
The Bowmore presented here was distilled in 1964 and spent around 15 years in sherry casks; it was bottled at 45% abv in 1999 in an edition of 798 bottles signed by Samaroli and Mongiardino.
"A whisky with an extremely complex bouquet, where the scents of peat and phenol are mixed with honey, fruit and floral notes. The presence of tar, tobacco and leather is also worth emphasizing. The drink captivates with its velvety palette and long, sweet-almond finish."
