Product description
Moon Import was founded in 1980 in Genoa and quickly became famous as an importer and distributor of high-quality wines and spirits.
It also had its own line of whiskies, rated as highly as the selection of the legendary Silvano Samaroli († 2017). Surprisingly, in 2015 Pepi Mongiardino, the owner of the company, issued a statement that “after 35 years Moon Import is ceasing operations”. The Isle of Jura presented here was distilled in 1991, two years before the distillery was acquired by Whyte & Mackay, and bottled at 46% abv in 2004 as part of the Paris Collection, in an edition of 800 bottles. The whiskies included in the “Paris Collection” were aged in refill casks “to faithfully reflect the profile of the distillate itself”.
