- Wolfburn is a new kid on the block, however the original Wolfburn Distillery operated from 1821 to the 1860s on site about 350 meters from the new one. The name Wolfburn refers to a nearby freshwater source Wolf Burn.

Wolfburn is a young Scottish malt distillery, although the chronicles mention a Wolfburn Distillery that operated between 1821-186(?) on a property approximately 350 metres away.
Named after Wolf Burn, the water source of the original distillery, the distillery is based in Thurso, Caithness, and is the most northerly distillery on mainland Scotland. It opened in January 2013, with its first single malt released in March 2016. Distilled in July 2015, this whisky spent over four years in a bourbon hogshead cask (no. 709/215) and was bottled at 55% abv, unchill-filtered, in November 2019 in an edition of 324 bottles.
Aroma : fresh barley malt, apples, pears, vanilla, brown sugar, a touch of white pepper and light grassy and mineral tones.
Palate : slightly alcoholic, vanilla, caramel, breakfast cereals, apples, gooseberries, lemon peel, notes of pepper, nutmeg and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, white pepper, nutmeg, a touch of summer fruits and oak.
