Product description
Frysk Hynder (or Frisian Steed), the first Dutch single malt whisky, debuted in 2005.
Its producer is the small US Heit distillery (annual production of 10,000 bottles) owned by Aart van der Linden, based in Bolsward, operating on the premises of the family brewery (whisky production began in 2002). The plant distills from locally grown barley, which is malted on site. The maturation process uses barrels from red wine, sherry, port and cognac. The Frysk Hynder presented here, distilled on August 25, 2017, was aged in a red wine barrel no. 259B for five years and bottled on August 29, 2022 at 40% alcohol.
