Campbeltown Loch Blended Malt Whiskey / 46% / 0.7l
- Campbeltown Loch is a whisky brand from J.&A. Mitchell & Company portfolio produced at Springbank Distillery.
Product description
In December 2021, Campbeltown Loch, originally a blended whisky made from Springbank and Longrow single malts and Girvan grain whisky, returned to the market in blended malt form.
The brand is owned by Springbank’s owners, J.&A. Mitchell & Company, and is named after the small bay at the southern tip of the Kintyre Peninsula, which helped develop the port there. When Campbeltown proudly bore the name “Whiskypolis,” tens of thousands of barrels of whisky sailed from there to ports in Scotland and Europe. The blended malt presented here features five single malts – Springbank, Longrow, Hazelburn, Kilkerran and Glen Scotia – produced at three distilleries in the region.
Nose : sea salt, wet chalk, apples, lemon and orange peel, peaches, vanilla, honeyed breakfast cereal, roasted peanuts, white pepper and a hint of peat.
Palate: slightly oily, breakfast cereal, caramel, toffee, blood oranges, grapefruit, white currants, a hint of anise, a pinch of salt and pepper and toasted oak.
Finish : quite long, with notes of honey, salted caramel, roasted nuts, lemon peel, a bit of pepper and peat.
