- Douglas Laing & Co., one of the most reputable independent bottling companies, used to be run by two Laing brothers, Stewart and Fred. In 2013, after almost 40 years of working together, the brothers parted ways and split the old company portfolio.

Renowned distribution company Douglas Laing & Co. was owned by brothers Stewart and Fred Laing until 2013, but after 40 years of success the brothers decided to split the company assets and operate separately.
The Old Malt Cask range is now owned by Hunter Laing & Co., of which Stewart is chairman. The Fettercairn featured here, distilled in April 2008, spent over 14 years in bourbon cask no. HL 19616. Bottled in July 2022 at natural colour, without chill filtration and at 50% abv in an edition of 294 bottles, the Fettercairn Distillery, based in the eastern Highlands, has been making whisky since 1824. Today, it is owned by Whyte & Mackay and, with two pairs of stills, can produce 2.2 million litres of distillate per year.
Aroma : sweet breakfast cereals, milk fudge, vanilla, pralines, raisins and sultanas, orange peel, notes of hay and pencil shavings.
Flavor: vanilla, Manuka honey, chocolate orange peel, toffee, buttery croissant, mocha, pinch of white pepper and lemongrass.
Finish: medium long, with notes of toffee, sweet bread, orange peel, pears, white pepper and oak.
