Craigellachie Distillery is situated in the heart of Speyside, on a hilltop overlooking the confluence of two rivers, the Fiddich and Spey.
The plant is equipped with two pairs of stills and can produce over 4 million liters of distillate per year. Craigellachie belongs to John Dewar & Sons, a subsidiary of Bacardi Ltd. Traditionally, the local whisky was associated with the White Horse brand, recently it is one of the main components of Dewar's blends. The Craigellachie presented here, distilled in April 2007, spent 15 years in a sherry butt cask no. HL 19607. Bottled in August 2022 with a natural color, without cold filtration and at 50% ABV in the popular Old Malt Cask series, in an edition consisting of 518 bottles.
Aroma : caramel, vanilla, toffee, milk chocolate, honey, peaches, pears, apricots, orange peel, notes of ginger, cinnamon and oak.
Taste : honey cereal, caramel, chocolate-covered cherries, plums, peaches, walnuts, ginger cookies and a hint of cinnamon.
Finish : quite long, with notes of honey, chocolate, summer fruits, nuts, white pepper, ginger and oak.
