Product description
Akkeshi Distillery began operations in the fall of 2016. It is equipped with two Scottish stills and can produce 300,000 liters of distillate per year.
The distillery is located on the island of Hokkaido, in a remote area surrounded by marshes and peat bogs, and the local climate is similar to the climate of Islay. Akkeshi offers both single malt and blended whiskies, and the "24 Solar term series" collection is particularly noteworthy in the offer, inspired by the old Asian calendar dividing the year into 24 solar seasons. Akkeshi Daikan is the sixth edition of the series and refers to the winter peak, which lasts from January 20 to February 4. The whisky is a blend of its own single malt distillates (50%) aged mainly in local Mizunara oak barrels and imported grain whisky aged on site. The blend uses bourbon, sherry and other wine barrels.
