Talisker 44 years old Forest of the Deep is a limited edition from 2022 consisting of 1997 bottles.

It was inspired by an expedition organized by Parley for the Oceans to the Cape of Good Hope to study the largest seaweed on Earth. Talisker is one of the sponsors of this organization, which studies and protects ocean flora. The expedition included scientists, filmmakers and a group of activists, as well as barrel staves from the distillery. The staves and dried Scottish seaweed were later used to burn the barrels in which the whisky presented here was finished. Talisker Forest of the Deep is the oldest official edition from this distillery.

Aroma : very "marine", ocean breath, sea salt and seaweed, wet sand and shells, ship ropes, ground pepper, lemon zest, peaches, toffee, salted nuts and campfire smoke in the background.

Palate : oily, slightly waxy and smoky, sea salt and pepper, seaweed salad, vanilla, toffee, salted peanuts, a hint of candied ginger, lemon zest and oak.

Finish: very long, with notes of sea salt and kelp, white pepper, lemon peel, lapsang souchong tea and oak.
