The Clan Denny series debuted at the beginning of the new century and initially consisted of old single grain whiskies.
Distribution was handled by Hunter Hamilton & Co., a subsidiary of Douglas Laing & Co., owned by brothers Stewart and Fred Laing. In 2013, the brothers split up and divided the company's assets. The latest editions of Clan Denny include single grain whiskies, single malts and blended malts, distributed by Douglas McGibbon & Co., another subsidiary of Douglas Laing & Co., now owned exclusively by Fred. The Glengoyne presented here, distilled in June 2007, was aged in a refill hogshead cask no. DMG 15913 for a decade and a half. Bottled in June 2022 at 48% abv and without chill filtration, in an edition of 339 bottles.
Nose: vanilla, honeyed breakfast cereals, green apples, pink grapefruits, orange peel, cinnamon, cloves, notes of hay and oak.
Palate : brown sugar, honey toast, vanilla, pineapple, mirabelle jam, orange peel, white pepper, a touch of cinnamon and toasted oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla, honeyed peanuts, fruit candy, a touch of licorice and oak.
