Product description
Glen Garioch Distillery, based in Old Meldrum in the Eastern Highlands, has been producing whisky since 1797, making it one of the oldest in Scotland.
The plant's offer from recent years has been basically completely "unpeated" whisky, but distillates produced before 1994 had a completely different, "smoky-peated" character. Until then, the plant produced malt itself, in which the concentration of phenol compounds was about 10 ppm. In 2020-2021, Glen Garioch experienced a general renovation and replacement of equipment, and a decision was also made to open a malt house. The current plant distills in two stills, producing a maximum of 1.3 million liters of spirit per year. The whisky presented here, distilled in October 2008, spent over 13 years in a hogshead cask no. HL 19524. Bottled in May 2022 in the Old Malt Cask series in an edition of 287 bottles.
