Product description
The Dreams series from 1999 is the result of the combined forces of two icons in the world of whisky (and privately friends), Silvano Samaroli and Pepi Mongiardino.
Mongiardino founded Moon Import in 1980 and quickly made a name for himself as an importer and distributor of high-end wines and spirits; his “Half Moon” series debuted two years later. At the urging of Silvano Samaroli, Mongiardino focused on bottling single casks of whisky, usually from private owners. In addition to the quality of the spirits themselves, the Moon Import editions are characterized by their unique presentation. The labels are usually designed by Mongiardino himself, inspired by old engravings from an 18th-century German encyclopedia. Samaroli, on the other hand, began his whisky career in 1968 and immediately focused on single cask releases. Early editions, both Samaroli and Moon Import, are at the top of the list of whisky lovers and very rarely come up for auction.
The label for the edition presented here (it had 594 bottles) was designed by Nadia Pini and Hans Piu. We don't know much about the whisky itself, but the fact that it was selected jointly by Samaroli and Mongiardino puts it in the pantheon of fame. Mongiardino admitted in an interview that "Dreams" was his favorite series.
