Product description
This is the story of the maturation of a rare Caribbean rum, which begins not in a distillery warehouse but among the gleaming shelves of the Balvenie sampling room. It was there that David C. Stewart MBE and his team met John Barrett, who brought samples of some of the most unusual spirits from around the world to the distillery.
The Balvenie 27YO is a whisky finished in Trinidad and Tobago's legendary Caroni rum casks, whose flavour ranges from smooth vanilla sweetness to molasses toffee, aged leather and deep oak tannins.
Nose: Rich, with light notes of Muscovado sugar and Manuka honey. Lighter fruity notes occasionally intertwine with aromas of green banana and light spices.
Palate: Beautifully smooth with a velvety vanilla viscosity. Initial burst of sweetness transitions into treacle toffee, aged leather and deep oak tannins.
Finish: Long-lasting and sweet with a wonderful oiliness on the lips.
