Since its debut in 1939, Crown Royal has remained a glorious showcase for Canadian whisky.
Reportedly, Sam Bronfman, its creator and then president of Seagram, conducted some 600 trials before approving the final formula. Despite an 11% share of the global spirits market in 2001, Seagram sold its Wine & Spirits division and invested in the film industry. Crown Royal is currently in Diageo's branded portfolio and, with annual sales of 7 million cases, is the group's second best-selling whisky. The most popular version of Crown Royal is the De Luxe, presented here, put together with about 50. various whiskies distilled at the corporation's Gimli Distillery in Manitoba.
Aroma: sweet cereal, maple syrup, brown sugar, caramel, baked apples, grapes and a touch of vanilla.
Taste: vanilla, caramel, sponge cake, apples, cereal, orange peel, hints of cinnamon and oak.
Finish: medium-long, with notes of caramel, maple syrup, roasted corn, a pinch of spice and oak.
