Oban 10-year-old, Diageo Special Release 2022 / 57.1% / 0.7l

Special Releases is a limited series of Diageo whiskies released every autumn.

It debuted in 2002 and is made from the finest single malt and single grain barrels from the group's portfolio, bottled in a cask strength version without chill filtration. The 2022 release consisted of 7 single malts (Mortlach NAS, Oban 10 years old, Talisker 11 years old, Clynelish 12 years old, Lagavulin 12 years old, Singleton of Glen Ord 15 years old, Cardhu 16 years old) and one single grain whisky, Cameron Bridge 26 years old. The Oban 10 years old presented here was originally aged in first and refill American oak barrels, then finished in seasoned Amontillado sherry barrels.

Nose : fruity-sweet, apples, oranges, cherries, dried figs, sultanas, toffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, brown sugar and a trace of salty breeze.

Palate: milk chocolate, vanilla, toffee, plums, blood oranges, cherries, pears, licorice, cardamom, white pepper and a pinch of salt.

Finish: quite long, with notes of toffee, apples, pears, white pepper, a touch of anise and oak.
