Product description
Corsair Artisan Distillery was founded in 2008 by two Nashville residents, Derk Bell and Andrew Webber.
Corsair has two distilleries equipped with different types of stills, one in Nashville, Tennessee, and the other in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The company's offerings include whiskey, vodka, gin, rum, and absinthe, and the owners are constantly experimenting with new formulas. The result of one of the latest is the Hydra American Malt whiskey presented here, distilled from five barley malts. The following woods were used in the malting process: walnut, apple, sugar maple, black chestnut, and persimmon. The whiskey was aged for 12 months in new, charred American oak barrels. The Batch #3 presented here was 499 bottles.
Nose : camping fire smoke, barley malt, blood oranges, grapefruit, peach tea, notes of potpourri and charred oak.
Palate: slightly smoky, lemon and orange zest, roasted nuts, apples, maple syrup, caramel, charred oak and a hint of leather.
Finish: medium long, with notes of smoky malt, charred oak, burnt sugar and a hint of hops.
