Product description
Sipsmith Distillery was established in 2009 and was the first distillery to open in London in almost 200 years.
Its founders, Sam Galsworthy and Fairfax Hall, had previously worked in the spirits sector, but had no direct involvement in distilling. Jared Brown took on the task, joining as a consultant and then taking over as master distiller. He was inspired by a formula discovered in an 18th-century book, The Art of Distilling, which in its modern form consists of ten botanicals from around the world – Macedonian juniper, Seville orange peel, Spanish lemon peel, Italian orris root, Belgian angelica root, Madagascar cinnamon, Chinese cassia bark, Spanish almonds and Bulgarian coriander. The botanicals are then macerated for several hours. One of Sipsmith’s latest offerings is Zesty Orange Gin, which has been increased in the orange peel content (fresh and dried) and has added zesty bergamot.
In the aromatic bouquet, next to juniper we find strong citrus tones balanced by cinnamon. In the palette a combination of citrus zesty and orange jam and cinnamon. We recommend serving it with tonic (Indian Tonic) and a slice of orange, an interesting suggestion is also Zesty Orange Spritz.
